And they're not the only high street style retailer to be upping their game. M&S have had some gorgeous Conran designs on the go and the Homebase Le Creuset-ish cookware, out last year in lots of beautiful colours, was a shocker too.
Colours Japura gold effect hammered pendant, £39.98 (hello Tom Dixon Beat Light); Colours Quantick desk lamp, blue, £29.98 (very similar to a discontinued Habitat design that I have in my spare room)
Now B&Q have been continuing the trend started when they brought out, a couple of years back, the Tecton, their version of the giant Anglepoise floor-standing lamp. (They've also continued the trend of HEAVY inspiration from designs before them... do you recognise the odd predecessor?) Anyway, here are a couple of favourites from their new season home stuff, on sale from March and launched this week... and eminently affordable.
Colours Drake fluro cushion with yellow piping, £9.98; Colours Drake Fluro cushion with pink piping, £9.98. (Reminiscent of the lovely Katy Binks print I featured ages ago, I reckon, as well as a bit of Kirath Ghundoo – seventh picture down here, do you think?)
Look out also for the Vigor Steel wallpaper (geometrics in shades of grey), the rather lovely knitted pendant lampshade and the acid bright strung garden chairs. Mmm.
